Kelowna Senior Assistance

Providing seniors the ability to stay in their home and community

Knowing that seniors want choice about how they age and their living arrangements, aging in place is an important discussion to have.
There are definite benefits to keeping our loved ones in a place/community where there is a sense of connection, security, and familiarity in one’s home and community.

With the 2016 Canadian Census indicating that over 85% of seniors would prefer to age in place and pay for support vs living in assisted living communities, it is worthwhile to take proactive measures to reduce the risks of injury.

Agitation & Dementia

I was contacted by a concerned child that their parent was having an extremely difficult weekend at their care facility. Fortunately, I was scheduled to see them Monday morning. When I arrived, although extremely happy to see me, I could tell that she was “off.” After a brief discussion, we scrapped our previously scheduled plans, and I tried something new for both of us…music and a hand massage.

Apple AirTags & Dementia

AirTags are a small, disc-shaped device that helps you locate and track items such as keys or wallets using the Find My app on your Apple devices. It uses Bluetooth technology to connect your iPhone or iPad, allowing you to see the item’s location on a map and play a sound to help you find it. People with dementia may misplace or forget the location of important belongings, and AirTags can assist in finding these items. Attaching an AirTag to commonly misplaced items can help caregivers or family members track

Dogs & Donuts

Pets can add much needed joy and companionship to a senior’s life, but as we age the responsibility to care for these pets can become too much. We can help with a pets needs, or if someone would benefit from spending time with our dogs we can arrange a visit.

    • Help with pets
    • Walks, grooming, medication or vet visits.

Maisie loves all the attention!

Here’s a quote from our client’s daughter

“Aaaw! You and Maisie made her day… she talks about you throughout the week!”

Their companionship fosters trust and companionship, effectively addressing the need for human connection. Additionally, caregivers alleviate the logistical burdens associated with tasks such as transportation, appointment management, and bill payment. In doing so, they empower older adults to maintain a secure and cozy home environment, enabling them to continue living independently.
